What to Look for When Hiring a Crawl Space Encapsulation Contractor
Sep 19, 2019

Choosing the right contractor for your crawl space encapsulation project is vital. You may use the highest quality encapsulation products on the market but if the products aren’t properly installed by a reliable contractor, they are unlikely to deliver the results and performance you expect from them. In worse case scenarios, you may even have to get the products completely re-installed.

So how do you find a reliable crawl space encapsulation contractor? How do you identify whether the contractor you are hiring is right for your crawl space encapsulation project?

Look for the following four things when interviewing a contractor:

Experience

Nothing beats experience, and when you’re working in the basement, an experienced head on the shoulders matters all the more. Ask the contractor how many years they have been working in the industry. Look for contractors with least 7–10 years of field experience.

Warranty

The contractor should be able to offer some kind of warranty on their work. This way, you can have your peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong in the future, you can call the contractor and have the issue fixed. Just make sure the contractor offers warranty in writing. Don’t take someone for their word no matter how much they try to convince you.

Good reputation

This is where you’ll have to do some research on your own. Thankfully, you have the internet to make things easier for you. Check out the contractor’s Google and Yelp reviews. Look at the Better Business Bureau for any complaints registered against the contractor. Ask the contractor to provide some references of their past customers. Reach out to them and ask about their overall experience working with the contractor.

Insurance

Working in the crawl space can be extremely dangerous. As such, you want to make sure the contractor is insured. They should carry normal handyman insurance as well as some kind of mold and insulation insurance. Contact the contractor’s insurance company to assure they are legitimately insured and not faking it. You see, contractors can ghost insurance certificates. You don’t need to be dealing with such contractors.

Shortlist contractors based on the above criteria, get quotes from them and then choose the one that offers the best price and warranty terms. And if you need quality crawl space door products for your project, you can always trust Crawl Space Door Store with your money.
